Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the rail and how fine is the scale?
The rail is 1000 mm long, with a metric scale etched along the full length in 1 mm divisions. That leaves room for object, lens and screen in standard focal-length practicals.

Will riders from another bench fit this rod?
Riders must suit a 19 mm round rod. Three universal riders are included; check the bore of any riders you already own before mixing them with this bench, and contact us with their size if unsure.

How is the bench levelled?
Each of the two cast-iron feet has manual levelling thumb screws. Set them until the rod sits horizontal, then lock every rider screw before changing heavy lenses so nothing slides off.
