What does the negative focal length mean?
It shows that the lens diverges light. Parallel rays leave the lens as if they came from a virtual focus 100 mm in front of it, on the same side as the incoming light.

Can this lens project an image onto a screen by itself?
No. A concave lens alone gives only virtual, upright and diminished images. To obtain a real image on a screen, combine it with a stronger convex lens or a converging mirror.
