Optics Experiment Parallax Pin
Product Code : SCL-LAO-12088
Optics Experiment Parallax Pin (SKU SCL-LAO-12088) is a 120 mm stainless steel object needle with a polished brass tip and a 10 mm post that drops into an optical bench rider. Two pins are used together to locate real images by removing parallax, the method behind focal-length practicals for convex lenses and concave mirrors in Class 12 and B.Sc. physics. As a science apparatus manufacturer in India, Science Lab Supplies produces the pins at its Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area works in Saha, Ambala and supplies schools, colleges and distributors directly.
Specifications
Every detail of the parallax pin set is tabulated below. Briefly, each needle has a grade 304 stainless steel body on a precision-ground 10 mm post, a machined brass tip with a fine bevelled point and a knurled collar, and weighs about 45 g; the set holds two pins.

Applications and Experiments for the Parallax Pin
One pin acts as the object and the other is moved until it sits exactly on the image, which is found when the two tips stay together as the observer moves their head sideways. This no-parallax method is standard in optics lab equipment for schools and colleges.
- Class 12 physics: focal length of a lens such as the Convex Lens 50mm from object and image distances.
- Class 12 physics: focal length of a mirror such as the Concave Mirror (50 mm), using an image pin at the real image.
- Apparent depth and refraction measurements through glass blocks such as the Half-Round Optical Glass Slab or liquid cells.
- B.Sc. practicals: ray-tracing layouts in optics kits.
Keep the rubber cap on the sharp tip whenever a pin is off the bench.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each set holds two stainless steel parallax pins with brass tips, two rubber protective tip covers, a plastic storage case and a quick alignment instruction card. The optical bench, riders and lenses are not part of the set; they can be priced on the same quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
You may request pricing for a single pair or for enough pairs to give every optical bench in the laboratory its own set. Each quotation from Science Lab Supplies states packing, delivery time and price for that number, and benches or lenses can be added.
Registered as an exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Nepal, Bangladesh, Zambia, Rwanda, South Africa and Qatar. The business is registered under Udyam as a manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0014546) and for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Pin sets can be priced via the contact page or the enquiry cart, and school tenders are handled through the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the no-parallax method work?
Two objects at different distances seem to shift relative to each other when you move your eye sideways. When the image pin sits exactly at the image position, that relative shift disappears and the distance can be read.
Will the pin fit a triangular optical bench?
Yes. The 10 mm post fits the sliding carriers of most triangular and rod-type optical benches that use 10 mm sockets, and the knurled collar lets you set the tip height by hand.
Will the steel shaft rust?
The body is grade 304 stainless steel, which resists rust in normal laboratory humidity. Wipe it with a dry cloth after use and store the pins in their case to protect the bevelled tips.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer; the parallax pins are machined and assembled at its Saha, Ambala unit. Buyers therefore deal with the factory itself for pricing, packing and dispatch.
