Fluid Friction Measurement
Product Code : LSK-HAP-10577
Fluid Friction Measurement (SKU LSK-HAP-10577) is a vertical pipe-friction panel on which students measure head losses in pipes, a roughened pipe, valves and fittings, and compare flow-measuring devices. It serves fluid mechanics practicals in B.Tech/B.E. civil, mechanical and chemical courses, diplomas and TVET programmes. The panel is a Science Lab Supplies product, manufactured on its premises at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, with quotations issued by the factory to institutions, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
For the fluid friction panel, the table lists each instrument and test item separately. In short, a space-saving vertical panel fed by a gravimetric or volumetric hydraulics bench carries different pipes, a roughened pipe, valves and fittings, a venturi and an orifice plate, pressure transmitters, a traversing Pitot-static tube and a J-type thermocouple.

Applications and Experiments for the Fluid Friction Apparatus
The apparatus covers the classic pipe-flow experiments: friction factor against Reynolds number, the laminar-to-turbulent transition, loss coefficients of valves and fittings, and calibration of flow meters. Results can be checked against Nikuradse’s data and the Moody chart, making it core engineering lab equipment for fluid mechanics lab experiments.
- Friction factor versus Reynolds number in the test pipes and the roughened pipe, building on the critical Reynolds number found with Friction Loss In A Pipe or the dye trace of the Reynolds Apparatus.
- K factors of tee, elbow, Y-junction, gate and globe valves.
- Flow rate against pressure differential for the venturi and orifice meter.
- Velocity profile and flow coefficient from a Pitot traverse; Bernoulli’s equation in practice.
Standard Scope of Supply
The panel is supplied with its test pipes and roughened pipe, the valves and fittings listed above, venturi tube, orifice plate, traversing Pitot-static tube, differential pressure transmitters, J-type thermocouple, the calculation program and a comprehensive user guide. The hydraulics bench that feeds it is a separate item.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Quotes are available for a single panel or for several stations in a teaching lab. Packing, delivery time and price are stated on each quotation for the quantity you give, and a hydraulics bench to run the panel can be quoted on the same sheet.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Vietnam, Malaysia, Peru, Egypt, Iraq and Nigeria. Tell us which bench will feed the panel via the contact page, collect the panel and bench in the enquiry cart, or open the lab tender page if a public tender governs the purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the panel need a hydraulics bench?
Yes. It is designed as a vertical panel that works with a gravimetric or volumetric hydraulics bench, which supplies and measures the water. The bench is ordered separately.
Can students see laminar and turbulent flow?
Yes. By varying flow through the pipes, including the artificially roughened pipe, students cover the transition from laminar to turbulent flow and plot friction factor against Reynolds number.
Is this apparatus made by Science Lab Supplies?
It is. The panel is built in the company’s Saha, Ambala factory in India, and you receive your quotation and technical answers from the manufacturer itself.
What does the software calculate?
The program works out Reynolds number, pipe friction factor, fluid velocity, frictional losses, flow rate and the K factors of the valves and fittings from the measured data.
Related Pipe Flow and Loss Equipment
Pipe friction work sits next to flow measurement, networks and transient flow, so these bench-based and stand-alone rigs extend the panel across those topics, and every one of them can be quoted together with it for a single laboratory order.
