Pair of Wooden Friction Blocks with Hooks
Product Code : SCL-PL-12399
Pair of Wooden Friction Blocks with Hooks (SKU SCL-PL-12399) is a matched pair of wooden cuboid blocks for measuring sliding friction with a spring scale. Each block carries a hook, so students can pull it across a bench, up an incline or with extra weights on top. The blocks are manufactured by Science Lab Supplies at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and supplied direct to schools, colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
Each wooden block is a cuboid measuring 12 x 6 x 6 cm with a mass of 100 g, and each is fitted with a hook so a spring scale can be attached to measure the pulling force. Two blocks are supplied, so one can be stacked on the other or both compared directly.

Applications and Experiments for the Friction Blocks
The blocks let students measure the force needed to start and keep a body sliding, then see how that force changes with load and surface. Pulled by a spring scale on a flat bench or up an incline, they lead to the coefficient of friction and to wider work on force and motion.
- Class 8 science (NCERT): showing friction and the factors that affect it.
- Class 11 physics: static and kinetic friction and the coefficient of friction.
- Comparing surfaces such as sandpaper and pine, and adding weights.
Standard Scope of Supply
The pair consists of two wooden cuboid blocks, each 12 x 6 x 6 cm and 100 g, and each fitted with a hook. A spring scale, extra weights and an inclined plane are not part of this item and can be quoted separately.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for a quotation covering one pair or a pair for every practical group, and Science Lab Supplies will show the packing, delivery time and price for that quantity. Spring scales, masses and other physics lab equipment in India can be quoted together with the blocks.
Holding an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Rwanda, South Africa, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Malaysia. The enquiry cart collects several items into one request, the contact page handles direct questions, and the lab tender page explains tender supply.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size and mass are the friction blocks?
Each block is a wooden cuboid of 12 x 6 x 6 cm with a mass of 100 g. Two identical blocks come in the pair, and each carries a hook for a spring scale.
How are the blocks used to measure friction?
Hook a spring scale to a block and pull it steadily across the surface; the reading gives the friction force. Repeat with weights added or on an incline to compare loads and find the coefficient of friction.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer of these blocks. They are made at the company's own factory in Saha, Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotations are sent straight from there.
Is a spring scale included with the pair?
No. The item is the pair of hooked wooden blocks only. A spring scale or force meter can be listed on the same quotation, so the full friction set-up is quoted together.
Related Friction and Force Measurement Equipment
Friction blocks need a way to measure the pull and, often, extra load. The items below cover both: force meters read the pulling force, a mass set adds known weight on top of a block, and a tribometer offers a complete friction demonstration. All four can be quoted with the blocks.
- Friction Demonstration Device (Tribometer) — dedicated friction demonstration apparatus.
- Set of Spring Force Meters with Different Ranges — reading the pull on the hook.
- Digital Force Meter — electronic force readings.
- Mass Set with Hangers — known masses to increase the load.
