Newton's Disc
Product Code : SCL-PL-12304
Newton's Disc (SKU SCL-PL-12304) is a disc bearing the colours of the spectrum that, when spun fast, appears nearly white to the eye. It can be used to show that white light is a mixture of colours, in school optics lessons and early college demonstrations. Science Lab Supplies manufactures the disc and stand at its Ambala factory (Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha) and quotes them directly to schools, colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The motorised colour disc is listed part by part in the table below. In short, a removable 150 mm PVC disc printed with the spectrum colours sits on a stand with a turning wheel and handle, and a 3–7.2 V DC motor with safety sockets can drive it for a steady, fast spin.

Applications and Experiments for Newton's Disc
Spinning the colour disc lets students see the spectrum colours merge into an off-white blur, the reverse of splitting light with a prism. It is a quick, visual way to introduce dispersion, the composition of white light and persistence of vision, and it can be quoted with other school physics lab equipment in India for the light chapter.
- CBSE/NCERT Class 10 science: white light as a mixture of colours, after splitting it with a 50 mm Glass Prism (Equilateral, 50 × 50 mm).
- Class 7–8 science: colours, light and persistence of vision, with the polished pieces of the Acrylic Prism set for making a rainbow first.
- Class 12 physics: pairing the disc with prism dispersion in ray optics.
- B.Ed. and teacher-training courses: a ready demonstration of colour mixing.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each unit comprises the removable 150 mm PVC spectrum disc, the 3–7.2 V DC motor with safety sockets, and the stand with its turning wheel and handle. A low-voltage DC source for the motor can be added to the same quotation if your lab needs one.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Quotations can cover a single Newton's Disc for a demonstration table or a quantity for several school labs; each one sets out the packing, delivery time and price for exactly what you request. A prism or ray box for the dispersion lesson can go on the same quote.
With its Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies is registered as an exporter and is able to ship to buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Philippines, Nepal and Bangladesh. The business is registered under Udyam as a manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0014546) and for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Disc prices for one lab or several follow a short note on the contact page or a list sent from the enquiry cart; tender documents can be routed through the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Newton's Disc look white when it spins?
The eye cannot follow the separate colour sectors at high speed, so their images overlap and blend. Because the sectors carry the spectrum colours, the blend approaches white, showing that white light is made of those colours.
Is the disc removable?
Yes. The 150 mm PVC disc is removable from the stand, which makes it easier to store or replace without changing the motor or the stand.
Does Science Lab Supplies make this apparatus or trade it?
The disc, motor mounting and stand are assembled in the company’s Saha, Ambala factory, so Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer and pricing and supply terms come straight from where it is built.
What powers the motor?
The disc uses a 3–7.2 V DC motor connected through safety sockets. Tell us whether you need a matching low-voltage supply and it can be listed on the same quotation.
