Electrical Power System Simulator

Electrical Power System Simulator

Product Code : LSK-EPS-10518

Electrical Power System Simulator (SKU LSK-EPS-10518), often called the PSS, is a complete laboratory model of a power network, from generation and grid supply through transmission lines and distribution transformers to consumer loads, with industrial-standard protection throughout. It is built for B.Tech/B.E. electrical engineering power systems and protection labs. Science Lab Supplies supplies the simulator from Ambala, India to universities, engineering colleges, technical institutes, tender contractors and distributors.

Specifications

A motor and generator set with characteristics similar to industrial turbine-generator sets feeds a generator transformer and bus, while a protected grid transformer supplies a grid bus. Reactance-based transmission lines, two tapped distribution transformers, a switched busbar and a utilisation bus with variable loads complete the network.

Applications and Experiments for the Power System Simulator

The simulator lets students run a small power system end to end: synchronise a generator, load lines and transformers, apply faults at chosen points and watch relays trip breakers. It covers generation, transmission, distribution, utilisation and protection experiments in one piece of engineering lab equipment.

  • B.Tech power systems lab: generator synchronisation to the grid and load sharing.
  • Transmission line performance for different line lengths, with faults along the line.
  • Switchgear and protection lab: zone protection, protection grading, auto-reclose, back tripping and directional tripping.
  • Switching transients using the point-on-wave circuit-breaker and oscilloscope.

The simulator runs from the mains and works at hazardous voltages; it should be operated only by trained staff or supervised students.

Standard Scope of Supply

The simulator includes the motor-generator set, generator and grid transformers, transmission line reactances, two distribution transformers, utilisation loads with induction motor, switched busbar, industrial protection relays, circuit-breakers with lamps, blocking switches, fault switches, meters, and an oscilloscope with transducers.

Packing, MOQ and Lead Time

The simulator is normally quoted as one complete system, and further add-on modules can be priced alongside it. Your quotation from Science Lab Supplies sets out packing, delivery time and price for the configuration and quantity you request.

Science Lab Supplies holds an Importer-Exporter Code and can ship to buyers in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Send your configuration through the contact page, add items in the enquiry cart, or refer to the lab tender page for tender purchases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can students choose the power source for experiments?
Yes. Either the grid supply or the generator can act as the source, and the generator can be synchronised to the grid supply for realistic tests.

How are the protection relays set?
Students set the relays from their control panels. Each relay also has sockets for linking to a suitable computer when more detailed programming is needed.

Who supplies the Electrical Power System Simulator?
Science Lab Supplies supplies it from Ambala, India, and can quote it with related power system modules for a college laboratory or a tender package.

Can relay protection be overridden for experiments?
Blocking switches with warning lights let the user temporarily override relay protection at key points, so extended experiments can be run under supervision.
