Loading Rheostat 50KW 440V AC Three Phase
Product Code : SCL-EAE-12050
Loading Rheostat 50KW 440V AC Three Phase (SKU SCL-EAE-12050) is a high-power, floor-mounted resistive load bank that absorbs up to 50 kW from a 440 V three-phase source, for full-load tests on generators, transformers and distribution systems. It serves engineering students and laboratory technicians in electrical engineering laboratories. Science Lab Supplies manufactures this rheostat at its factory at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and supplies engineering institutions, tender contractors and distributors directly.

Applications and Experiments for the 50 kW Loading Rheostat
The rheostat lets a class load an industrial-scale three-phase source in controlled steps and record how voltage, current and efficiency change up to 50 kW. It is suited to B.Tech, diploma and advanced vocational power laboratories that test full-size alternators, three-phase transformers and inverter-based systems at realistic ratings.
- Alternator performance: applying large resistive loads to an industrial alternator and recording voltage regulation drops on an Analog Ampere Meter Panel Mount and voltmeter.
- Transformer efficiency: loading a three-phase secondary progressively to evaluate copper loss, for instance on a Three Phase Mobile Transformer.
- Microgrid and inverter studies: providing a predictable power sink while renewable-energy control systems stabilise.
This is a high-voltage, high-heat unit: keep 1.5 m clear around the exhaust grilles, bond the earth stud before use and allow only trained staff to operate it.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each rheostat comes on its pre-installed industrial castor array, with four high-current insulated connection cables with copper lug terminations and an English operational manual covering schematics and experiment setups. The three-phase source under test and the panel meters are separate items for the quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for a quotation on a single 50 kW unit or on several for a high-power test bay. Each one states the packing, delivery time and price for that quantity, and Science Lab Supplies, a science apparatus manufacturer in India, can add meters, transformers or smaller load banks.
As the holder of an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Peru, Egypt and Iraq. Send requirements through our contact page or enquiry cart, and see the lab tender page if you are buying against a tender.
Frequently Asked Questions
What current does it draw per phase?
At 440 V AC three phase and the full 50 kW, the rheostat draws approximately 65.6 A on each phase, so the supply, cables and protection must be sized for that current.
What happens if the ventilation fails?
An active thermal cutoff disconnects the resistor grid if airflow drops or the core temperature passes its safe margin. Keep the intake and exhaust screens free of fibres and dust.
How should the unit be shut down after a heavy run?
Disengage the load steps first and leave the cooling fans running for at least five to seven minutes to clear residual heat before switching off the incoming supply.
Who builds the 50 kW rheostat?
Science Lab Supplies, a laboratory equipment manufacturer in India, builds it in its own factory at Saha, Ambala, India. As the actual manufacturer, it can answer technical questions and price the unit without any trading intermediary.
