Applications and Experiments for the Welders Apron
The apron is worn over workshop clothing during stick, TIG and gas welding, and during grinding and cutting, where sparks and hot slag fall on the front of the body. It is standard PPE in the ITI Welder trade, TVET welding and fabrication modules and polytechnic workshop practice.
- ITI Welder trade: body protection at the welding bench in the flat position, for example on the Shielded Metal ARC Welding Machine.
- TVET welding and fabrication: protection when cutting plate on the Plasma Cutting Machine and grinding it.
- Engineering and polytechnic workshops: PPE for students during welding demonstrations.
For overhead or vertical welding, where sparks can fall on the arms and shoulders, a leather welding jacket gives fuller cover. Keep the apron free of oil and grease, and replace it if the leather is burnt through.
Standard Scope of Supply
The Welders Apron is supplied as a single apron in one size, with its ties and snaps, as described above; any optional accessories are listed on the quotation. State the number of aprons needed for your welding bays when you enquire, and the quotation will cover that quantity.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
You can request a quotation for one apron or a batch for the whole class. Each Science Lab Supplies quotation states packing, delivery time and price for that quantity, and gloves, shields and other TVET workshop equipment from the same range can be listed with it.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in South Africa, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia and Peru. Aprons for a welding bay can be requested through the contact page or the enquiry cart, and buyers working to a tender may wish to read the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size is the Welders Apron?
It is one size fits most. Reinforced eyelets, ties and snaps let it be adjusted to trainees of different builds, so a single size can serve a whole welding class.
What material is it made from?
It is made of heavy chrome leather in brown split cowhide, left unlined, with heavy-duty stitching to hold the panels together under hard workshop use.
Who supplies the Welders Apron?
Science Lab Supplies supplies it from Ambala, India to ITIs, TVET colleges, polytechnics, contractors and distributors, singly or as part of a welding PPE kit.
Should an apron or a jacket be chosen?
An apron covers the front of the body and suits bench welding; a jacket also covers the arms and shoulders for vertical and overhead work. Both can be quoted together.
Related Welding and Workshop Safety Gear
An apron protects the front of the body, and the rest of the welder needs cover too. These items from the welding range and the chemistry range protect the arms, hands, face, eyes and head, and include a rubber apron for wet work, so a complete protective kit can be quoted together.
