Laboratory Capacitive Loading Unit 1.2 kVAR
Product Code : SCL-EAE-12047
Laboratory Capacitive Loading Unit 1.2 kVAR (SKU SCL-EAE-12047) is a three-phase capacitor bank that adds capacitive reactive power in three balanced steps, up to 1.2 kVAR at 415 V, for power factor correction and compensation experiments. Technical students and instructors in electrical engineering labs use it with inductive loads, alternators and line models. Science Lab Supplies, from its factory at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, manufactures the unit and supplies it direct to colleges, institutes, contractors and distributors.

Applications and Experiments for the Capacitive Loading Unit
The unit supplies switchable capacitive kVAR so students can cancel part of a lagging current and watch line current and apparent power fall. It fits power-systems and machines practicals in B.Tech, diploma and higher vocational electrical courses, especially power factor correction, alternator excitation and transmission line work.
- Power factor correction: switching the steps in parallel with the Inductive Load 415V AC Three Phase and recording the drop in line current.
- Alternator over-excitation: applying capacitive loads to an educational alternator to plot charging characteristics.
- Line modelling: showing the capacitive effect of long overhead lines, as also studied on the Transmission Line Simulator.
Capacitors store charge: after switching off, wait at least 60 seconds for the bleed resistors to discharge them before touching any lead.
Standard Scope of Supply
The unit is delivered with six high-current insulated patch cords with 4 mm safety connectors, three removable phase bridging copper links and an English operations manual on power calculations and wiring configurations. The three-phase supply, inductive load and bench meters are separate items that can be added to the quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
You may ask for a quotation for one capacitive unit or for matched sets with inductive loads for several benches. Each quotation from this science apparatus manufacturer in India shows the packing, delivery time and price for the quantity, with any companion loads listed alongside.
Science Lab Supplies has an Importer-Exporter Code and can therefore ship to buyers in Rwanda, South Africa, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Malaysia. To order, contact us through the contact page, build a list in the enquiry cart, or follow the lab tender page for tender schedules.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the unit have discharge resistors?
The built-in bleed resistors drain the charge held in the capacitors once the bank is switched off. Wait at least 60 seconds before handling or disconnecting the patch cords.
Does it need a cooling fan?
No. The low-loss metallised film capacitors produce very little heat, so the 1.2 kVAR unit is cooled through passive convection vents in the steel case.
Can it be used on a single-phase supply?
Yes. Each phase path is brought out separately on the front panel, so a single capacitor branch can be isolated and used for 220–240 V single-phase tests.
Is the capacitive unit built by Science Lab Supplies?
It is. As a laboratory equipment manufacturer in India, Science Lab Supplies assembles the unit at its Saha, Ambala factory, and every quotation for it is prepared by the maker rather than an agent.
