Universal Dynamometer
Product Code : LSK-FM-10474
Universal Dynamometer (SKU LSK-FM-10474) is the drive and measuring unit for the Modular Fluid Power range: it powers the pump or machine on each module and measures its speed, torque and shaft power. It suits pump performance and hydraulic machines practicals in mechanical and civil engineering. Both of its parts are manufactured by Science Lab Supplies at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, which offers the dynamometer directly to colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The table splits the two-part dynamometer into individual specifications. In short, a trunnion-mounted induction motor reacts against a strain gauge load cell for torque, with an inductive sensor for speed, while a separate motor drive and display unit holds a variable-speed a.c. inverter and shows speed, torque and shaft power digitally.

Applications and Experiments for the Universal Dynamometer
Coupled to a pump module, the dynamometer sets the shaft speed and measures the mechanical power going in, so students can calculate efficiency and plot characteristic curves. These tests belong to fluid machinery and hydraulic machines labs in B.Tech/B.E. mechanical and civil engineering and to diploma mechanical courses.
- Centrifugal and axial flow pump performance at variable speed.
- Positive displacement (gear and piston) pump tests on the fluid power modules.
- Shaft power, torque and efficiency calculations from direct digital readings, compared with the self-contained Centrifugal Pump Test Set, which also uses a strain gauge load cell.
- Discussing dynamometer types: the trunnion-mounted hydraulic dynamometer of the Small Engine Test Set measures torque with an electronic load cell.
The unit drives a rotating coupling from mains power, so operate it with guards in place and under supervision.
Standard Scope of Supply
Supply comprises the electric dynamometer on its base plate with load cell, speed sensor and jaw-type coupling, and the motor drive and display unit that fits on the instrument frame of each Fluid Power module. The pump or machine modules themselves are separate items and are quoted individually.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
A quotation can cover one dynamometer or a complete fluid power laboratory, stating packing, delivery time and price for that scope. Buyers of test and measurement instruments in India can add the pump modules and the Turbine Dynamometer on the same quotation.
Science Lab Supplies holds an Importer-Exporter Code, which means it can ship to buyers in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Say which Fluid Power modules the dynamometer will drive when you get in touch via the contact page, or place everything in the enquiry cart; for a tender, see the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which modules does it drive?
It is designed for all the Fluid Power modules, including the Centrifugal Pump Module and Axial Flow Pump Module. Location points on the base plate give accurate, repeatable alignment onto each one.
How is torque measured?
The induction motor is trunnion-mounted, so its reaction turns against a strain gauge load cell. The drive unit converts this signal and shows torque, speed and shaft power on its digital display.
Why are there power outlets on the drive unit?
The rear outlets power the instruments supplied with the Fluid Power modules, which reduces the number of mains connections and gives a neater, safer bench layout.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
The dynamometer and its drive-and-display unit are built by Science Lab Supplies at its factory in Saha, Ambala, India, and the company issues every quotation for them itself, without a trading agent.
