Applications and Experiments for the Round File
Trainees use the round file for any curved internal surface: opening a drilled hole to size, blending a slot end, filing a concave profile or cleaning burrs from inside a pipe after sawing. It complements the flat file in the filing exercises of fitting, welding and sheet-metal courses.
- ITI Fitter trade: enlarging and finishing holes drilled on a machine such as the Pillar Drill Machine.
- ITI Welder and pipe-fitting practice: deburring pipe bores before the joint is set up in a Pipe Welding Clamp.
- Sheet-metal work: filing internal radii and slot ends in plate cut on the Manual Hand Shear.
Standard Scope of Supply
The Round File is supplied as a single unit in the length and grade you choose. Several lengths and grades can be combined on one order so that every bench has a coarse and a fine file; any optional accessories are listed on the quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
A quotation can cover a single file or complete sets for a training workshop. It states the packing, delivery time and price for exactly that quantity, and matching flat and triangular files or other bench tools can be priced on the same document, so the whole set is ordered at once.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Malaysia, Peru, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria and Kenya. Name the lengths and grades of round file you need on the contact page or in the enquiry cart; tender buyers will find the lab tender page useful too.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a round file used for?
It is used to enlarge holes, file concave curves and remove burrs from the inside of pipe and tube. Its round section reaches surfaces a flat file cannot.
Which grade should a training workshop order?
The rough (bastard) grade suits fast stock removal and the smooth grade suits finishing, with the medium grade between them for general work. All three can be quoted together.
Who supplies the Round File?
Science Lab Supplies supplies it from Ambala, India as part of its welding and fitting tool range for vocational training centres, colleges and contractors. Each quotation states the packing and delivery time for the files ordered.
Can different lengths be ordered together?
Yes. Any mix of the 4 in to 14 in lengths and the three grades can be quoted together, with each size shown as its own line.
