Sonometers (SKU SCL-PL-11838) is a wooden sonometer set for investigating how the pitch of a vibrating wire depends on its length, tension and thickness, with three steel wires, movable bridges, a dynamometer, weights and tuning forks. It is used in Class 11 physics, B.Sc. sound practicals and teacher training. Applications and Experiments for the Sonometer

Students move a bridge until the wire resonates with a tuning fork, then repeat at other tensions or with the thicker wire. Plotting resonant length against frequency, or against the square root of tension, verifies the laws of transverse vibration of a stretched string.
