Plug Flow Reactor (Coiled Tube Type)
Product Code : LSK-TWL-10822
Plug Flow Reactor (Coiled Tube Type) (SKU LSK-TWL-10822) is a tubular reactor wound as a helical coil, used to study a non-catalytic homogeneous reaction under isothermal conditions as reactants flow from the bottom of the coil to the top. It is a core rig in chemical reaction engineering labs for B.Tech and diploma students. Science Lab Supplies manufactures it at its factory at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and supplies it direct to colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
Reactants from two feed tanks are circulated by a magnetic drive pump through individual rotameters with needle valves and enter the lower end of the helical coil. The product leaves at the top of the coil, where samples are collected for analysis.

Applications and Experiments for the Coiled Tube Plug Flow Reactor
In an ideal plug flow reactor there is no mixing along the flow and complete mixing across it, so concentration changes along the length only. The coil adds turbulence through constant change of direction and secondary flow, so a higher rate constant is expected than in a straight tube.
- B.Tech/B.E. chemical engineering reaction engineering lab: kinetics in a tubular reactor.
- Finding the reaction rate constant from outlet samples at different flow rates.
- Comparing results with a straight-tube PFR and a CSTR to show the effect of reactor type.
- Diploma chemical engineering practicals on ideal flow reactors.
Standard Scope of Supply
The unit is supplied with the helical coil reactor, two feed tanks, magnetic drive pump and rotameters with needle valves for each reactant. Reaction chemicals and the glassware and instruments used to analyse samples are chosen by the laboratory; any optional items are listed on the quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Price requests can be for one reactor or several for a class. The quotation will show packing, delivery time and price for that quantity, and the rest of your reaction engineering bench from our range can be listed with it.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Ethiopia. Enquire via the contact page or enquiry cart; see also the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why use a coiled tube instead of a straight tube?
The frequent change of direction in the coil creates secondary flow and turbulence, which improves radial mixing, so a higher rate constant is expected than in a straight-tube plug flow reactor.
Where are samples taken?
Reactants enter at the lower end of the coil and leave at the top, where samples are collected for analysis.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer. The reactor is built in its own factory in Saha, Ambala, India, and quotations are issued directly by the factory.
Can the full reactor set be bought for a university tender?
Yes. List the reactors and quantities in your tender through the contact page for an item-wise quotation covering this engineering lab equipment in India.
