Gas Absorption Column
Product Code : LSK-TWL-10807
Gas Absorption Column (SKU LSK-TWL-10807) is a floor-standing mass transfer unit in which oxygen from rising air is absorbed into a falling water film in a glass wetted wall column. Deoxygenated feed water and inlet and outlet oxygen probes let students measure the transfer directly. It serves chemical engineering mass transfer labs. Science Lab Supplies manufactures it at its factory at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and supplies it direct to colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
A painted steel frame carries a glass wetted wall column, gimbal mounted for accurate vertical setting, beside a deoxygenating column of similar size. Base pumps feed water to both, a diaphragm air pump blows air up the absorption column, and a console houses flow meters, pump controls and an oxygen analyser.

Applications and Experiments for the Gas Absorption Column
The unit is used to measure gas-liquid mass transfer: dissolved oxygen is read in rapid succession at the column inlet and outlet while air and water flows are varied. Repeat runs at several water flow rates show how liquid flow affects oxygen transfer.
- B.Tech/B.E. chemical engineering mass transfer: oxygen absorption in a wetted wall column.
- Mass transfer coefficients from inlet and outlet dissolved oxygen readings.
- Effect of water flow rate on the liquid-side mass transfer coefficient.
- Oxygen uptake at different air flow rates, with water flow held steady.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each unit comprises the wetted wall column, the deoxygenating column, the water storage tank and pumps, the diaphragm air pump, the two oxygen probe housings and the console with flow meters, pump controls and oxygen analyser, all on the steel frame. Nitrogen for the deoxygenator is not listed.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Quotations cover one unit or a full mass transfer lab, and each Science Lab Supplies quotation sets out the packing, delivery time and price for the quantity requested. Colleges comparing engineering lab equipment manufacturers in India can add other separation trainers to the same quotation.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Uganda, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Philippines and Nepal. Use the contact page or the enquiry cart to enquire; the lab tender page covers tender supply.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Gas Absorption Column measure absorption?
Water is first stripped of oxygen with nitrogen, then flows down the wetted wall while air rises. Probes read dissolved oxygen in the water entering and leaving the column, giving the amount absorbed.
Is nitrogen supplied with the unit?
No. Nitrogen for sparging the feed water is not in the scope of supply; the laboratory arranges its own and handles cylinders under supervision.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer. The unit is built at its own factory in Saha, Ambala, India, and quotations come directly from the factory.
Why is the column gimbal mounted?
A wetted wall column must stand exactly vertical for an even liquid film. The gimbal mounting lets the column be set accurately vertical before each run.
