Center-of-Gravity Plate Set
Product Code : SCL-PL-12412
Center-of-Gravity Plate Set (SKU SCL-PL-12412) is a set of thin, flat aluminium plates in different shapes, used with a plumb line on a thread to locate the geometrical centre of gravity of two-dimensional objects. It suits secondary-school physics lessons on stability and equilibrium, and introductory mechanics practicals. The set is made by Science Lab Supplies, which manufactures school physics lab equipment in India at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, and sells directly to schools, colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The set consists of thin, flat aluminium plates cut to different shapes, with a plate size of 20 × 20 cm, plus a plumb line suspended by a thread. A plate is hung freely from a chosen point and the plumb line shows the vertical through that point, along which the centre of gravity must lie.

Applications and Experiments for the Center-of-Gravity Plate Set
The plate set is used to find the centre of gravity of flat shapes by the plumb-line method: hang a plate from two or more points, mark each vertical, and the lines cross at the centre of gravity. It supports school lessons on equilibrium and stability.
- Class 11 physics (NCERT): centre of mass and centre of gravity.
- Secondary science: comparing the balance point of different shapes.
- Stability: why a hanging body rests with its centre of gravity below the suspension point.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each set comprises thin aluminium plates of different shapes, sized 20 × 20 cm, and a plumb line on a thread. Hang the plates from any laboratory support; a retort stand with boss head and clamp can be quoted alongside the set if your laboratory needs one.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for a quotation for one plate set or for enough sets for a full class of student groups. Science Lab Supplies states the packing, delivery time and price for the quantity requested, and related mechanics lab equipment in India, such as lever or moment-of-force apparatus, can join the same quotation.
Holding an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies is able to ship to buyers in Tanzania, Uganda, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the Philippines. The business is registered under Udyam as a manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0014546) and for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Add the set to the enquiry cart, write via the contact page or see the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the plate set show the centre of gravity?
The plumb line marks the vertical through the point a plate hangs from. The centre of gravity lies on that line, so hanging the plate from a second point gives two lines that cross at the centre of gravity.
What material and size are the plates?
The plates are thin, flat aluminium sheets cut to different shapes, with a plate size of 20 × 20 cm, intended for classroom work on two-dimensional objects.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer. The plate set is produced in its own factory at Saha, Ambala, India, so every quotation is issued by the maker itself.
Can the set be quoted for a school tender?
Yes. Send the number of sets, your delivery address and the tender specification, and the quotation will state packing, delivery time and price for that exact quantity.
Related Mechanics and Equilibrium Apparatus
These four Physics Lab items extend the centre-of-gravity lesson into moments and levers, and one gives a support for hanging the plates. They cover equilibrium topics that can be taught alongside this set, and all four can be listed on one quotation.
- Disk for the Balance of Moments — balancing turning effects.
- Apparatus for Demonstrating the Moment of Force — the turning effect of a force.
- Lever Apparatus — the lever principle.
- Retort Stand with Boss Head and Clamp — a support to hang the plates from.
