Joule's Calorimeter
Product Code : LSK-H-11159
Joule's Calorimeter (SKU LSK-H-11159) is a 5 x 7.5 cm copper calorimeter with a built-in coil of wire, used to measure the heat produced when an electric current passes through a resistance. It serves Class 11–12 and B.Sc. heat and electricity practicals. Built at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, it is manufactured by Science Lab Supplies and sent out from the factory to schools, colleges, contractors and distributors.

Applications and Experiments for Joule's Calorimeter
Current is passed through the coil while the liquid in the copper cup is stirred; from the voltage, current, time and temperature rise, students calculate the heat produced and compare it with the electrical energy supplied. It is everyday heat and thermodynamics lab equipment for school and college benches.
- Class 11–12 and B.Sc. physics: determining the mechanical equivalent of heat (J) by the electrical method, with current read on an Ammeter and potential difference on a Voltmeter.
- Verifying Joule's law of heating, that the heat produced rises with the square of the current, the resistance and the time.
- Finding the specific heat capacity of a liquid by electrical heating, with temperatures taken on Laboratory Thermometers made of glass.
Switch off the supply before touching the terminals, and never run the coil without liquid in the cup.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each calorimeter is supplied with the 5 x 7.5 cm copper cup and wire coil, the polished wooden outer vessel and the bakelite top with its terminals. A version without the wooden vessel, or a copper cup of a customised size, can be quoted on request. Thermometers, meters and a power supply are quoted separately.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Request a price for one calorimeter or for a full class set; the quotation you receive states packing, delivery time and price for exactly that quantity. Ammeters, voltmeters and thermometers can be listed on the same quotation, so a complete electrical-heating bench is priced in one document.
Registered with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Uganda, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Philippines and Nepal. You can write to the sales team from the contact page, build a list in the enquiry cart, or check the lab tender page for institutional procurement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size is the copper calorimeter?
The standard copper calorimeter measures 5 x 7.5 cm and sits inside a well-polished wooden outer vessel. Copper calorimeters of customised sizes are also available, so give the size you need when you ask for a quote.
Can it be ordered without the wooden outer vessel?
Yes. Joule's calorimeter is also available without the wooden outer vessel, which suits laboratories that already have suitable outer containers. State this option in your enquiry so that the quotation is prepared for that version.
How is current passed through the calorimeter?
Two terminals on the bakelite top connect to a coil of wire inside the copper cup. A power supply, ammeter and voltmeter are wired to these terminals, and the coil heats the liquid while it is stirred.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
The company is the manufacturer. It produces this calorimeter in its Saha, Ambala factory, and every quotation is issued by that factory, which keeps size options and custom versions in the maker's own hands.
