Blue Light Transilluminator
Product Code : LSK-BL-10174
Blue Light Transilluminator (SKU LSK-BL-10174) is a blue-light gel viewer for DNA gels stained with a safe, blue-light-compatible DNA stain, so the gel can be read without UV light or ethidium bromide. It suits molecular biology practicals in senior school, B.Sc. and B.Tech biotechnology labs. Science Lab Supplies, based in Ambala, India, can quote it for schools, colleges, training institutes, tender contractors and distributors as part of an electrophoresis bench.
Specifications
The table below gives each specification of this blue-light gel viewer. In short, it lights a stained DNA gel from below with blue light under a high intensity control, offers a 7 x 14 cm viewing area and has an orange contrast lid that makes the stained bands stand out.

Applications and Experiments for the Blue Light Transilluminator
The transilluminator is used to see and photograph DNA bands after agarose gel electrophoresis when the gel carries a blue-light stain. Because no UV source is involved, it fits teaching labs that want to keep UV lamps and ethidium bromide out of student practicals while still running real DNA separations.
- Class 12 biotechnology: checking DNA fragments separated by gel electrophoresis, a standard topic in the NCERT biotechnology chapter.
- B.Sc. and B.Tech molecular biology: reading PCR products, with reaction tubes held on a Water Bath Float or set up in a PCR Microplate before the gel is run.
- Forensic science and DNA fingerprinting exercises where students compare band patterns side by side.
- Teacher demonstrations of band size and intensity for a whole class around one viewer.
Place the stained gel on the viewing area, close the orange lid and adjust the intensity until the bands are clear. Wipe the surface after each gel so stain residue does not build up.
Standard Scope of Supply
The Blue Light Transilluminator is supplied as a single unit with its blue-light viewing surface, high intensity control and orange contrast lid, as described above. The gel tank, power supply, DNA stain and gels are not included; any of them can be added to the quotation as separate lines.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
A quotation can cover one transilluminator for a teacher bench or several units for a full biotechnology lab. For each quantity Science Lab Supplies sets out the packing, the delivery time and the price, so ask for the figure you need. Buffers, loading solution and tips can go on the same sheet.
Science Lab Supplies holds an Importer-Exporter Code and is able to ship to buyers in Nepal, Bangladesh, Zambia, Rwanda, South Africa and Qatar. For a price, send your quantity through the contact page or place the unit in the enquiry cart; institutional bids are handled on the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Blue Light Transilluminator need ethidium bromide or UV light?
No. It is built for DNA gels stained with a safe, blue-light DNA stain, so neither UV light nor ethidium bromide is needed to see the bands. Gels stained only with ethidium bromide are meant for a UV viewer instead.
How large is the viewing area?
The viewing area measures 7 x 14 cm, which is sized for small teaching gels. Check the dimensions of your gel tray against this area before ordering, and ask us if you plan to view larger gels.
What does the orange lid do?
The orange contrast lid filters the blue background light, so the stained DNA bands appear brighter against a darker field. Students can then read and compare the bands more easily during class.
Who is the supplier of this transilluminator?
The unit is sourced and dispatched by Science Lab Supplies from Ambala, India. One quotation can bundle it with other electrophoresis consumables for a school, college or tender contractor.
