Sediment Loop
Product Code : LSK-FM-10447
Sediment Loop (SKU LSK-FM-10447) is a sediment recirculation system for a laboratory flow channel: it catches sand washed downstream and pumps it back upstream so the sediment bed is continually replenished. This keeps sediment transport and scour experiments running without stopping to refill the bed by hand. It is used in river engineering and sediment transport practicals at degree and postgraduate level. Science Lab Supplies manufactures the loop at its Ambala works (Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, India) and supplies it straight to institutions, contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The loop has a filter vessel fitted to the outlet tank of the flow channel and a sediment discharge unit fitted in the channel upstream of the sediment bed, joined by a sediment tube. A pump in the vessel sends the sand and water mixture through the tube and out of a nozzle, controlled from a box hung on the instrument frame.

Applications and Experiments for the Sediment Loop
Any sediment washed into the channel transfer duct is caught in the vessel and pumped back to the discharge unit, so the bed upstream is fed continuously. This lets students study sediment transport, bed forms and scour under steady conditions over longer test runs.
- B.Tech / B.E. civil engineering: sediment transport and bed load in open channels.
- M.Tech water resources: scour around structures with a replenished bed.
- Formation of ripples and dunes on a sand bed.
Standard Scope of Supply
The loop comprises the filter vessel with its pump, the sediment discharge unit with nozzle, the sediment tube linking them and the pump control box. The flow channel it fits to is not part of this item; the quotation names any optional accessories.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Tell us whether you need one loop or several and the quotation will state packing, delivery time and price for that quantity. Sediment bed models and other engineering lab equipment in India from this range can be added.
With an Importer-Exporter Code in place, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Peru, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana. To request pricing, fill the enquiry cart or contact the team via the contact page; tender guidance is on the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the sediment loop recirculate sand?
Sand washed into the channel transfer duct collects in the sediment vessel. A pump sends the sand and water mixture along the sediment tube to the discharge unit, which releases it upstream of the bed.
Where is the pump controlled from?
From a control box hung on the instrument frame, so students can start and adjust sediment delivery without reaching into the channel.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
A manufacturer: the loop is produced at the Science Lab Supplies factory in Saha, Ambala, India, and buyers deal directly with that factory for pricing.
Does it fit an existing flow channel?
The filter vessel fits to the outlet tank of a flow channel and the discharge unit sits in the channel. Share your channel details so the fit can be confirmed.
