Beehive Shelves Porc
Product Code : LSK-CL-10044
Beehive Shelves Porc (SKU LSK-CL-10044) is a porcelain beehive shelf, glazed inside and out, that sits in a pneumatic trough and supports an inverted gas jar while gas is collected over water. It is standard kit for gas-preparation practicals in secondary school chemistry, college general chemistry and teacher training. Science Lab Supplies sends this shelf from Ambala, India to schools, colleges, training institutes, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The shelf is a porcelain body with a glaze on both the inner and outer surfaces, which keeps it easy to rinse and resistant to staining from trough water. Its dome shape carries the delivery tube underneath and holds a gas jar or test tube steady above the water line.

Applications and Experiments for the Porcelain Beehive Shelf
The beehive shelf is used in any experiment where a gas that does not dissolve readily in water is collected by downward displacement of water. The delivery tube passes through the side opening, and gas bubbles up through the top hole into the water-filled jar standing on the shelf.
- Class 10 and 11 chemistry: collecting oxygen or hydrogen over water.
- Testing collected gases with a glowing or burning splint.
- College general chemistry: measuring gas volumes produced in a reaction.
- Teacher-training labs: setting up standard gas-preparation assemblies.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each unit is one glazed porcelain beehive shelf, supplied on its own as described above. The pneumatic trough, gas jars, delivery tubing and gas generator are separate items; they can be added to the same quotation so that a complete gas-collection bench arrives together.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Quotations are available for a single shelf or for one per bench across a whole practical class. Each one sets out the packing, delivery time and price for the quantity requested, and porcelain items are packed to travel with other chemistry lab equipment in India on the same order.
Holding an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Zambia, Rwanda, South Africa, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Science Lab Supplies is registered for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Send your list via the contact page or the enquiry cart; tender buyers can also use the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a beehive shelf used for?
It stands in a pneumatic trough and supports an inverted gas jar so that gas from a delivery tube can be collected over water. The side opening takes the tube and the top hole lets the gas rise into the jar.
What does "Porc" mean in the name?
It is short for porcelain. The shelf is made of porcelain and glazed on the inside and outside surfaces.
Who supplies the Beehive Shelves Porc?
Science Lab Supplies supplies the shelf from Ambala, India, and quotes it alone or together with troughs, gas jars and other gas-preparation apparatus.
Is a pneumatic trough included?
No. The shelf is supplied by itself; a trough, gas jars and tubing are listed separately and can go on the same quotation.
Related Gas Preparation Apparatus
A beehive shelf is one piece of the classic gas-preparation bench. The four items below cover generating the gas, collecting it and testing it once the jar is full, so a school can quote the whole set-up together.
- Simple Equipment for Gases that do not Dissolve in Water — collection over water set-up.
- Simple Gas Preparation Kit — generator and fittings for common gases.
- Kipps Apparatus — steady gas supply from solid and liquid reagents.
- Deflagrating Spoon — burns substances in a jar of collected gas.
